Tinotenda Hove – A Malawi-bound CB Coaches bus was intercepted at the Beitbridge Border Post on Friday after a joint security operation uncovered a massive haul of mbanje and banned cough syrups worth thousands of dollars.

The bust followed a tip-off, prompting police and customs officers to swiftly move in and search the vehicle before it crossed the border.

According to sources at the scene, one of the drivers was arrested, while his accomplice fled moments before the inspection, disappearing into the nearby bushes.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the contraband and its intended destination.
