By A Correspondent– A 27-year-old man was hospitalised last week after a childhood dispute resurfaced during a night out at a local bar.

The incident occurred at Hungwe Bar in Matibi Business Centre at around 10 pm on 8 June 2026.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police in Masvingo said: “Ndou reportedly told Chikwenhure that when they were young, he had beaten and defeated him, sparking a heated exchange.”

According to ZRP Masvingo, the victim was taken to Mnene Hospital for treatment and is now in a stable condition.

Police in Masvingo Province said the suspect fled the scene and has not yet been arrested. Investigations are ongoing.

Authorities warned: “We warn against carrying weapons, saying such conduct frequently escalates otherwise manageable disputes into serious criminal offences.”

The ZRP in Masvingo added: “We urge members of the public to settle disagreements amicably and not allow long-standing grudges or past conflicts to degenerate into acts of violence.”
