Kwekwe- A 16-year-old Form 3 student from Amaveni High School has died after consuming poison, in an incident that has left the local community in mourning.

Nothando Moyo passed away on Sunday following an argument with her parents over her attendance at a party. According to family sources, Moyo had gone to a party on Saturday evening without her parents’ knowledge and returned home late.

The following morning, the situation escalated when her parents confronted her about her actions. In an effort to mediate, the family attended church services where they requested the pastor to speak with the teenager and offer guidance.

Upon returning from church on Sunday afternoon, they found that Moyo had allegedly ingested a poisonous substance. Emergency efforts were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was laid to rest yesterday at Amaveni Cemetery.

Police are on record urging parents and guardians to monitor their children for signs of distress and to seek professional counseling when necessary.
