Tinotenda Hove- Controversial Zanu PF politician and businessman Killer Zivhu on Friday publicly praised exiled former ruling party national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, a move that is likely to unsettle some senior figures within the governing party.
Zivhu, who has often made headlines for his outspoken political remarks, posted a message applauding Kasukuwere, who has been living outside Zimbabwe following his fallout with the ruling party leadership.
In his message, Zivhu used strong words of admiration, referring to Kasukuwere as a fearless figure.
“Chirandu, hamubvunduki masango, nyuchi, nzunzi, tsetse fly kana vunyunyu, tekairai murunyararo gono remasango,” Zivhu said.
The statement, written in Shona, loosely portrays Kasukuwere as a brave individual who is not intimidated by danger, likening him to a powerful figure of the wilderness.
Kasukuwere, once one of the most influential figures in Zanu PF, fell out with the party leadership during the political turmoil that culminated in the 2017 military intervention that removed former president Robert Mugabe from power.
Since then, he has remained in exile while maintaining a presence in Zimbabwean political discussions.
Zivhu’s remarks come at a time when tensions are simmering within Zanu PF over the proposed constitutional amendment bill, which has sparked debate among politicians, legal experts and sections of the public.
Political observers say Zivhu’s public praise of Kasukuwere could be interpreted as a signal of underlying factional dynamics within the ruling party, especially given the sensitivity surrounding internal party politics.
Some analysts believe the comments could irritate influential Zanu PF figures who remain critical of Kasukuwere’s political ambitions and past role in the party.
Despite being outside the country, Kasukuwere has continued to attract attention in Zimbabwe’s political discourse, with his name often resurfacing in debates about the future direction of the ruling party.
Zivhu, known for his unpredictable political statements, has not provided further clarification regarding his message, but the remarks have already triggered discussions across political circles and social media platforms.
The development adds another layer to the ongoing political debate within Zanu PF as the party grapples with internal tensions amid discussions surrounding the constitutional amendment proposals.
