By A Correspondent – Opposition MP for Harare North Hon Agency Gumbo yesterday invaded one of the epicentres of ZANU PF violence in Mashonaland Central province to bid farewell to fallen Hatcliffe opposition activist, Mr Mashuka
In the true spirit of solidarity, the youthful politician who was one of the few opposition MPs who openly spoke against CAB3 in Parliament, ignored threats against his life to attend the burial ceremony of one of the veteran opposition activists in Hatcliffe.
The burial took place in one of the hotpots of political violence in Rosa area in Chiweshe, Mazowe district, just a stone throw away from First Lady, Auxilia Mnangagwa’s rural home under Chief Negomo.
At the funeral, some of the villagers told Hon Gumbo horror stories of how ZANU PF thugs in the area frog march them to attend meetings of the ruling party.
The villagers also told Hon Gumbo that they fear that their huts will be torched by ZANU PF thugs for allowing him to attend a funeral in the area.
They also bemoaned how their environment and homes are being degraded by gold panners loyal to the First Lady, Auxilia Mnangagwa. Some of the villagers also said Auxilia is threatening to evict them from their homes to pave the way for gold mining activities.
In 2008, a number of opposition activists were murdered in the Chaona area under Mazowe district.
