Tinotenda Hove – A 28-year-old Harare man has been taken into police custody after allegedly admitting to killing his friend in a disturbing incident that shocked residents of Warren Park D.

The suspect, identified as Shepherd Severa, was arrested after detectives launched investigations into the discovery of a blood-soaked vehicle abandoned at Warren Hills Cemetery in the early hours of Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

In a statement released on Thursday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said officers found a Toyota Aqua, registration number AGO 2804, parked at the cemetery around 4:00 a.m., with visible blood stains inside the vehicle.

Police investigations later led to Severa’s arrest. Authorities say the suspect allegedly confessed to murdering his friend, Brian Nandana, during questioning.

According to the police report, Severa allegedly told investigators that he used a kitchen knife to slit Nandana’s throat before “sucking his blood.”
Following the alleged confession, detectives were reportedly led to a shallow grave within Warren Hills Cemetery where the victim’s remains had been buried.

Police confirmed that Nandana’s body was recovered from the grave and preliminary observations showed he had suffered a severe neck wound, while another injury was noted at the back of his head.

Commissioner Nyathi said investigations are still underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing, with more details expected to be released as the case progresses.
