Sports Correspondent – The Harare Elite Junior Football Development League held its 2026 Annual General Meeting on Saturday at Prince Edward High School in Harare, bringing together league officials, teams, sponsors, and key stakeholders to review the past season and set priorities for the year ahead.

Acting Chairman Jabulani Ndlovu took the opportunity to thank all teams, sponsors, and stakeholders who participated in the previous season, saying their support had been instrumental in sustaining junior football development.

He expressed optimism about the new season, promising an improved standard of play, a steady flow of young talent, and entertaining football for players and supporters alike.

“We want to thank all the teams, sponsors and stakeholders who supported the league last season. This season we promise a great flow of talent and entertaining football,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu also called for unity among executive members, stressing that teamwork within the league’s leadership was essential to producing quality football and developing genuine talent among young players.

Reaffirming the league’s founding principles, he emphasised the importance of protecting the integrity of junior football by prioritising true youth development. He strongly condemned age cheating, urging all affiliates to uphold fairness and honesty in the game.

“It’s still about youth development in sports. Let’s do away with age cheating and promote junior football in the country,” Ndlovu said.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from members to strengthen governance, promote fair play, and ensure that the Harare Elite Junior Football Development League remains a credible platform for nurturing Zimbabwe’s future football stars.
