Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed two fatal road traffic accidents recorded on 23 November 2025, claiming a total of five lives and leaving several others injured.
The first accident occurred at around 1:00 PM at the 185 km peg along the Masvingo–Beitbridge Road. A Toyota Hiace carrying 10 passengers reportedly suffered a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle overturned three times before landing on its left side. Three passengers sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot, while eight others — including the driver — were injured. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Neshuro Hospital for postmortem, and the injured were also admitted there, with two later transferred to Masvingo Hospital for further treatment.
In a separate incident, another deadly crash occurred at around 5:40 PM at the 235 km peg along the Harare–Mutare Road. A Volkswagen Amarok travelling towards Mutare collided head-on with a Toyota Revo carrying two passengers. Both occupants of the Toyota Revo died on the scene.
The ZRP has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the country’s highways, particularly during the busy festive season traffic period.
