In a surprising twist, Sengezo Tshabangu, who was previously responsible for recalling MPs aligned with Advocate Nelson Chamisa, is now facing the same fate. After taking control of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) following the August 2023 general elections, Tshabangu exercised his power to recall several MPs and councillors, which ultimately led to Nelson Chamisa’s exit from the party.

However, Tshabangu’s situation has dramatically shifted. Recently expelled from the CCC by Welshman Ncube, he now faces the looming threat of losing his Senate seat. In response, Tshabangu has filed an urgent chamber application against the CCC, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the President of the Senate.

In his application, Tshabangu contends that his recall would be unlawful, citing the irregular nature of a disciplinary hearing held by the CCC on February 12. He is seeking an interdict to prevent the Speaker from declaring his seat vacant, along with a declaratory order affirming his right to remain in Parliament.
