Harare– In a move celebrating domestic football excellence, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has awarded two state-of-the-art Ford Ranger Wildtrak vehicles to champion clubs Dynamos and Herentals Queens.

The awards, presented on behalf of the nation at State House, Saturday, recognize the clubs’ outstanding achievements in the just ended season. The historic Dynamos Football Club, one of the country’s most decorated teams, secured the prestigious Chibuku Super Cup. Meanwhile, Herentals Queens, the women’s football powerhouse, also bagged the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League title for the fourth consecutive time.
The twin presentations underscore a growing emphasis on recognizing success across both the men’s and women’s games at the highest level. The Ford Ranger Wildtrak, a premium double-cab pick-up, is considered a top-tier reward, symbolizing both prestige and practical utility.
Speaking soon after receiving the gift Herentals Queens captain Tabeth Mutinhiri said the gift was a welcome development as it was an indication that women in sport were being recognised.
“We thank the President for his gesture and this is motivation for us to do more as a team. On behalf of Herentals Queens, I would like ti also thank the First Lady Amai Mnangagwa for her love for women. As women in sport, we feel honoured.

To our hero, Innocent Benza, we appreciate you all the way for the daily sacrifice that you make towards the team.”
Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai hailed President Mnangagwa for supporting local football.
He said:
“These vehicles which are a token of appreciation and a symbol of the nation’s pride in the dedication and triumph of our team are really appreciated. We thank the President for the gift. This is really an inspiration not only to Dynamos but to the rest of the local teams.
The gesture follows a tradition of state recognition for sporting achievement in Zimbabwe. For Dynamos, adding the league title to their illustrious history has now been met with a significant material accolade. For Herentals Queens, the award is seen as a major boost for women’s football, highlighting the increasing profile and support for the female game.

Officials from both clubs expressed gratitude for the presidential recognition. “This is a great honour for the players, the technical team, and our millions of supporters,” said Jalai. “It motivates us to aim even higher.”
Mutinhiri echoed the same sentiment, stating, “This award is not just for our club, but for every woman and girl playing football in Zimbabwe. It shows that our efforts on the pitch are valued and celebrated at the very highest level.”
The presentation has sparked widespread discussion on social media and sports forums, with many fans applauding the recognition of their champions, while others have engaged in the perennial debate about the role of state gifts in sport. Nonetheless, for the players and management of Dynamos and Herentals Queens, the Ford Rangers stand as tangible symbols of a season of unparalleled success.
