Tinotenda Hove| Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira has cautioned ZANU PF members who are allegedly opposing the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3), saying disciplinary action will follow once the process is completed.
He made the remarks during a ZANU PF provincial inter-district meeting held in Clovelly, Masvingo, on Saturday, where he accused some party members of conducting covert meetings aimed at frustrating the amendment process.
Chadzamira said he and Minister of State for Security Lovemore Matuke were fully aware of the political activities of MPs and councillors, including what he described as secret and unsanctioned gatherings.
He further alleged that while some members publicly show loyalty to the party, they privately engage in efforts to undermine its decisions.
“Once this CAB3 process is concluded, as Honourable Matuke has already said, there will be serious consequences and ‘gnashing of teeth’,” Chadzamira warned.
He claimed that certain individuals within the party were behaving in a deceptive manner by attending hidden meetings outside official structures.
“Some of you are like bats. By day you are with us, but at night you are holding different conversations and meetings. These meetings in houses and hotels are known to us; nothing escapes our attention,” he said.
Chadzamira added that both provincial and national security structures were tracking internal party activities.
“I chair the Provincial Joint Operations Command, while Matuke leads the national structure. We receive reports on what each of you is doing,” he said.
He urged party members to avoid what he termed illegal gatherings, insisting that only officially sanctioned meetings were valid.
“Stop attending these small secret night meetings you are being invited to. The only legitimate meetings are those called by the provincial chairman, Rabson Mavhenyengwa,” he said.
He also warned against accepting inducements to attend such gatherings.
“Do not sell your principles for a few beers. After this CAB3 process is completed, there will be consequences and ‘gnashing of teeth’,” Chadzamira added.
