Tinotenda Hove- Slain Bulawayo businessman Tedious Rutanhira was buried at Umvutshwa Cemetery on Friday, days after he was gunned down in front of his son during a robbery.

The 52-year-old was shot twice in the chest at around 11pm on Tuesday near a service station at the corner of Third Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street. He had just closed his shop and was heading to his car when he was attacked.

Family spokesperson Austin Rutanhira said two armed robbers pounced on him and tried to grab the bag he was holding.

“As he walked to his vehicle, two armed men appeared and attempted to snatch the bag he was clutching, but he fought back,” Austin said. “They shot him dead on the spot, took the bag containing US$10,000 cash, and ran away.”

Relatives said the family has been left shattered by the brutal killing.

Rutanhira, a businessman for many years, is survived by his wife Ngoni and four children.
