Tinotenda Hove – Fourteen people have died after a cross-border bus crashed along the Harare-Nyamapanda highway near Suswe on Tuesday afternoon.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said the accident happened at the 176km peg at around 1:00pm when a BRD Luxury Coach, en route to Malawi from Cape Town, South Africa, went off the road.
Police confirmed that 63 passengers were on board at the time of the crash. The 14 fatalities were recorded at the scene by officers who first responded.
Several injured passengers were rushed to Mutoko District Hospital and Kotwa District Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities said investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing and further details will be released in due course.
