Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a nationwide operation targeting vehicles without number plates and those equipped with unauthorized sirens, blue lights, bar lights, beacons, and other illegal gadgets.

Police say some drivers deliberately remove number plates to avoid identification after committing crimes, including robberies, kidnappings, hit-and-run accidents, and traffic violations such as driving against traffic or running red lights.

The operation will cover all types of vehicles, including private cars, company vehicles, government vehicles, and public service vehicles.

Authorities warned that any vehicle found without number plates will be impounded immediately and will only be released after proper registration and installation of legal plates.

Any illegal sirens, blue lights, or similar equipment will be removed on the spot
