Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has officially released the November 2025 Advanced Level examination results, with the national pass rate recording a notable increase from last year.
Addressing journalists in Harare on Friday, ZIMSEC board chairperson Professor Paul Mapfumo confirmed that candidates can begin accessing their results online from Friday afternoon.
“The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council board and management would like to advise the nation of the release of the 2025 November Advanced Level examination results,” said Prof Mapfumo.
He said results will be available via the ZIMSEC online portal from 4pm. “With effect from today, 9 January 2026, 4pm, Advanced Level examination candidates’ results will be accessible to all candidates and authorised personnel online through the ZIMSEC portal accessed through the ZIMSEC website www.zimsec.co.zw,” he said.
Prof Mapfumo cautioned candidates and schools that access to the portal will be time-limited. “Please take note that this portal will be open for five days only. Heads of examination centres will be able to collect the results for their respective schools and centres from our regional offices on Monday, January 12, 2026,” he added.
According to ZIMSEC, the national pass rate for the November 2025 Advanced Level examinations rose to 95.75%, up from 94.58% recorded in 2024, representing an increase of 1.17 percentage points.
Prof Mapfumo also revealed that more candidates sat for the examinations in 2025 compared to the previous year.
“The total number of candidates who sat for the November 2025 Advanced Level examination was 36,635, compared to 33,585 in 2024. This translates into an increase of 3,050 candidates, yielding a percentage increase of 9.08,” he said.
He explained that 36,282 candidates wrote two or more subjects in November 2025, with 34,740 attaining a grade E or better in at least two subjects.
“This translates to a pass rate of 95.75%,” said Prof Mapfumo.
By comparison, he noted that in November 2024, 33,246 candidates wrote two or more subjects and 31,443 achieved grade E or better in two or more subjects, resulting in a 94.58% pass rate. “The national pass rate for 2025, therefore, increased by 1.17%,” he said.
ZIMSEC further reported that the number of school candidates also rose. A total of 31,451 school candidates sat for the November 2025 examinations, compared to 29,041 in 2024. Of the 31,296 candidates who wrote two or more subjects in 2025, 30,159 obtained grade E or better, giving a pass rate of 96.39%.
In 2024, 27,509 out of 29,041 school candidates achieved a grade E or better in two or more subjects, translating to a pass rate of 95.18%.
The improved results and increased candidature mark a positive trend for the country’s Advanced Level examinations, according to ZIMSEC officials.
