Sports Correspondent – The Zimbabwe Football Association is considering booking a chartered flight for the national team to reduce travel fatigue ahead of their back-to-back AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

The Warriors will play Sierra Leone in Casablanca, Morocco, on Thursday, September 24, before hosting the Democratic Republic of Congo at the National Sports Stadium on Monday, September 28.

With just four days separating the two Group E fixtures, ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi said the association is weighing up a charter option to allow players adequate rest and preparation time for the home game.

Magwizi told The Herald that relying on commercial flights was not ideal given the tight turnaround.

“We cannot have our players relying on normal commercial flights when there is limited recovery and preparation time between matches,” he said.

“We must explore options such as chartering flights, although that comes at a significant cost.”

He added: “As ZIFA, we are doing whatever it takes to ensure that the players are well looked after and that we reduce the pressure and stress caused by long journeys.”
