Tinotenda Hove- Young people are not waiting for the human rights movement to catch up, they are leading it right now.
At the Amnesty International Zimbabwe #2026AGM, young members and activists joined delegates from across the country to debate, strategize and shape the organization’s next chapter.
“The #2026AGM showed me that youth are not asking for space at the table, we are building the table,” one youth delegate said. “We brought fresh perspectives and left knowing our voices matter in every decision.”
Another delegate said, “It was powerful to speak from our lived experiences. Young people are giving campaigns new energy and pushing Amnesty to be more inclusive.”
From sparking tough conversations to influencing resolutions, the young delegates demonstrated why youth participation is critical to a stronger, more representative movement.
“Young people are at the heart of our work,” an Amnesty International Zimbabwe representative said. “Their passion, creativity and commitment drive our campaigns, challenge injustice, and inspire collective action for lasting change.”
Amnesty is now urging more young Zimbabweans to get involved. “Hear directly from some of our youth delegates as they reflect on their experiences at the #2026AGM and what it means to stand up for human rights,” the statement said.
