No Protests In Masvingo City

By A Correspondent|Masvingo remained peaceful on Friday as the planned July 31 protests did not materialise in the city’s central business district.

Businesses opened as normal, commuter transport operated without disruption and residents continued with their daily routines, with no visible demonstrations reported in the city centre.

A preliminary assessment suggested that a climate of fear, uncertainty and alleged intimidation may have discouraged potential participants from taking part in the planned protests.

The demonstrations had been called in opposition to the Constitutional Amendment Act, which was controversially signed into law by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
