Harare– Controversial businessman and prominent Zanu-PF donor Wicknell Chivhayo has announced the delivery of an additional 10 state-of-the-art ambulances, fulfilling part of a pledge to supply 20 vehicles to the government, while launching a staunch defense of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration and its push for constitutional changes.
In a statement released on social media, Chivhayo confirmed that the latest batch of ambulances follows a previous donation of 10 vehicles in November. The full complement of 20 ambulances, he said, will be distributed to the country’s 10 provincial hospitals under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Child Care. The donation also includes 200,000 litres of diesel, with each province receiving 20,000 litres to ensure the vehicles remain operational.
“This is a HUMBLING contribution in support of the visionary leadership of H.E. President E.D. Mnangagwa and Government’s healthcare aspirations under VISION 2030,” Chivhayo stated, describing the initiative as part of efforts to achieve an upper middle-income economy.
Chivhayo used the announcement to lash out at critics, specifically targeting a female opposition lawyer whom he described as a “low-life” who questions government initiatives while contributing “ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.” He dismissed persistent criticism from opposition figures, asserting that the business community is delivering tangible outcomes.
The businessman also voiced unequivocal support for Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, which seeks to extend President Mnangagwa’s term. Chivhayo argued that sustainable development requires continuity and stability, adding that key programmes initiated under the Second Republic must be completed by 2030.
“Development is a PROCESS, not an event, and serious Nations jealously PROTECT and support such a process,” he said.
Chivhayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and close ties to ruling party officials, framed the donation as an act of patriotism, concluding with the slogan, “A HEALTHY NATION is a WEALTHY NATION.”
The government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the receipt of the ambulances or the accompanying fuel donation.
