Tinotenda Hove – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Sunday departed Harare for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at a time when Zimbabwe continues to grapple with mounting economic and social challenges.

According to State media, Mnangagwa is travelling to attend the 3rd Session of the World Governments Summit, which begins on Tuesday.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa has left Harare for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he will take part in the 3rd Session of the World Governments Summit,” State media reported.

The summit is expected to bring together global leaders and policymakers to discuss governance, development and innovation.

However, Mnangagwa’s trip is likely to draw criticism from Zimbabweans who argue that the President should be focusing on pressing domestic issues, including rising prices, currency instability and deteriorating public services.

Mnangagwa’s frequent foreign travel has previously been questioned by critics, who say such trips have yielded little tangible benefit for ordinary citizens struggling to make ends meet back home.
