Tinotenda Hove- A 41-year-old artisanal miner from Shamva is wanted by police after allegedly killing his pregnant wife with a hammer over infidelity claims.

The suspect, Leonard Padzikamambo Mubaira, who works at Bester Mine, is on the run.

Police national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the case, saying investigations are underway.

The deceased has been identified as Everjoy Amos, 32, who was four months pregnant and mother to three young girls. She was found with severe head injuries.

Police allege Mubaira attacked his wife at around 2am on Sunday before fleeing.

According to Commissioner Nyathi, hours after the murder, at around 4am on 13 September 2026, Mubaira armed himself with an iron bar and went to House Number 686 Muwanga Street in Shamva, the home of Tawanda Nyakudya, 31, whom he accused of having an affair with his wife.

“He accused Tawanda Nyakudya of having an extramarital affair with Everjoy Amos. The suspect left after promising to return so that they could resolve the issue,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

Later that morning, at around 7am, Nyakudya went to Mubaira’s house and asked children playing outside to call their parents.

The children went into the bedroom and discovered their mother lying in a pool of blood, while Mubaira was nowhere to be seen. They alerted Nyakudya, who then reported the matter to the police.

Police say efforts to locate Mubaira are continuing.
