Tinotenda Hove – ZANU PF Mashonaland East provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe has warned that authorities will respond firmly to any unlawful activity during the planned 31 July demonstrations, declaring that the full force of the law will be applied.

Addressing a party meeting over the weekend, Garwe, who also serves as Minister of Local Government and Public Works, dismissed any hopes of changing the country’s political leadership through the planned protests.
“Kana wairota uchitonga nyika ngazvipere kuhope,” Garwe said.

He further warned that security agencies would not tolerate any actions deemed to be outside the law, saying those behind the planned demonstrations should expect strict enforcement measures.

Garwe also maintained that the Constitutional Amendment Act is final and cannot be reversed, insisting that the legislation is now part of Zimbabwe’s legal framework.

His remarks come ahead of the planned 31 July demonstrations, which have generated political debate and heightened tensions, with the government repeatedly stating that any protests must comply with the law.
