Harare– The Public Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development (MHTEISTD), will host the inaugural Vice Chancellors’ Roundtable on Friday, 7 August 2026, at Manna Resorts in Harare, to address critical skills gaps and strengthen collaboration between academia, government, and industry.

The high-level engagement, held under the theme “Industry-Embedded Human Capital Development and Innovation: Co-creating Solutions in University Innovation Hubs,” follows a series of Chairman’s Public Lectures convened by the PSC across all national university campuses. The lectures generated critical insights pointing to significant skills mismatches in the workforce and an urgent need for structured partnerships between learning institutions and economic sectors.

All Vice Chancellors from Zimbabwe’s universities are expected to attend the roundtable. They will be joined by senior officials from key government ministries, including the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion (MOFEDIP), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Ministry of Skills Audit and Development. Representatives from the Office of the President and Cabinet, the private sector, and international development partners will also participate in the deliberations.

In a parallel initiative, the PSC will mount an Exhibition Park concurrently with the roundtable, providing a platform for university innovation hubs to showcase government-oriented innovations and practical solutions developed within tertiary institutions.

The PSC has invited all media houses to cover the opening event, which is scheduled to begin at 0800 hours.
