Tinotenda Hove – Four people lost their lives and 12 others sustained injuries after a commuter omnibus overturned along the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road on Saturday.
The crash happened at the 312-kilometre peg when a Nissan Caravan kombi carrying 16 passengers veered off the road, overturned and landed on its roof. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a statement.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Hwange Colliery Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the injured passengers were admitted to the same hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident, police in Murereka, Lion’s Den, are investigating a suspected hit-and-run accident in which an unidentified woman was found dead on January 3, 2026, at the eight-kilometre peg along the Lion’s Den–Mhangura Road.
The woman was wearing a blue and grey striped T-shirt and red track bottoms at the time she was discovered. Her body was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
Police have appealed to members of the public with information that may assist investigations to report to the nearest police station.
