Tinotenda Hove – Five people lost their lives on Wednesday night when a Toyota Hilux collided with the rear of a stationary 10-tonne Iveco truck.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident, which took place just before 9 PM at the 68-kilometre peg along the Harare–Nyamapanda Road. The Hilux was transporting four passengers when it crashed into the parked truck.
In a statement, the ZRP reported that the impact was fatal for all five occupants of the vehicle. The bodies of the victims were taken to Musami Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Authorities are urging motorists to exercise heightened caution on the roads, particularly at night, as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
