The family of Zimbabwean woman Nothabo Zandile Tshuma and her two daughters, Natalie and Nala, has expressed anguish over delays in the extradition of the man accused of their murders from South Africa to the United Kingdom.

Nothabo, 42, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were found dead at their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, in July.

British prosecutors have authorised three murder charges against Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, Nothabo’s husband and the girls’ father. He remains in custody in South Africa while extradition proceedings continue.

Tshuma has meanwhile pleaded guilty to firearm, ammunition and immigration-related offences in South Africa.

In a statement, the family called for the extradition process to proceed fairly, transparently and without unnecessary delay, saying the continued delays were adding to their pain.

“For others, this may be another legal matter or another date on a court calendar,” the family said. “For us, this is Nothabo. This is Natalie. This is Nala.”

Tshuma has not been convicted of the three murders and is wanted in the UK to face the charges.
