Tinotenda Hove – Police in South Africa’s Limpopo province uncovered boxes of suspected counterfeit condoms during a raid at a warehouse in Nirvana, Polokwane on Wednesday, March 11.
The condoms, branded as Lover’s Plus, were discovered during a joint compliance operation targeting illicit and non-compliant consumer products.
Authorities said the raid forms part of ongoing enforcement efforts aimed at stopping the distribution of counterfeit goods that could pose risks to consumers.
Speaking to the media at the scene, Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the operation and indicated that arrests are expected soon.
“This operation is a significant step in our fight against organized crime and the illegal trade in counterfeit goods,” Hadebe said.
Police say investigations are continuing as officials work to identify those responsible for the storage and possible distribution of the fake products.
