Tinotenda Hove – Outspoken cleric and Zanu PF political commissar in Masvingo Urban, Pastor Isaac Makomichi, has called for the renaming of all towns in Zimbabwe after liberation heroes, both living and deceased.
Speaking in an interview with Church News, Makomichi singled out Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, saying Masvingo should bear his name in recognition of his service to the nation.
“The VP (Chiwenga) is a well-decorated war hero, a statesman, someone who hates corruption, a Christian, a family man and a true leader who has people at heart. He deserves recognition. He is also loyal to President ED Mnangagwa, loyal to Zanu PF principles and loyal to the people of Zimbabwe. Let’s give him stars while he is still alive,” said Makomichi.
The clergy also praised government’s decision to rename the Mbudzi roundabout in Harare to Trabablas, in honour of President Mnangagwa.
Makomichi, who commands over 100,000 followers on Facebook, insists that renaming cities and towns would be a fitting tribute to those who fought for Zimbabwe’s independence.
