Tinotenda Hove- Twenty people were rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals on Monday morning following a road traffic accident involving a commuter omnibus and a private vehicle along the Bulawayo–Harare Road in Mahatshula.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene after the two vehicles collided, leaving several passengers with injuries of varying severity.

Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mhlangano Moyo confirmed that everyone involved in the accident was transported to hospital for treatment and assessment.

“The commuter omnibus had 18 people on board, while the private vehicle had a driver and a passenger. All 20 people were taken to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries,” said Moyo.

According to authorities, 14 of the victims sustained injuries in the crash, while six others escaped with less serious injuries but were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

Traffic along the busy highway was temporarily disrupted as emergency teams attended to the scene. However, normal traffic flow resumed later in the morning after the damaged vehicles were cleared from the roadway.
