ZRP Raises Alarm Over Wave Of Domestic Disputes

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has raised concern over a disturbing series of murders, attempted murders and suspected suicides arising from domestic disputes, with five people reportedly losing their lives while at least four others were left critically injured within a three-day period.

In a statement issued on September 24, 2026, ZRP Chief Staff Officer Press and Public Relations Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the incidents involved spouses and family members, resulting in deaths and serious injuries.

Nyathi urged members of the public to avoid violence when confronted with family or relationship disputes and instead seek peaceful ways of resolving their differences.

One of the most distressing incidents was reported in Zhombe, where 23-year-old Emily Takadii of Maisa Village allegedly became involved in a dispute with her husband on September 21 over suspected infidelity.

According to police, Takadii allegedly gave her two sons, six-year-old Shyne Tavatya and nine-year-old Sean Tavatya, a poisonous substance before consuming the substance herself.
