Tinotenda Hove- A video featuring 12-year-old Theo Tungwarara, the son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s special advisor Tempter Paul Tungwarara, has sparked widespread backlash after he appeared online showcasing what he called his “bodyguard” and “private chef.”
In the short clip posted on Facebook on Tuesday, the young boy confidently introduces two men standing beside him.
“Meet My Bodyguard Rovambira and My Private Chef,” Theo says in the video.
The footage spread quickly across social media, triggering criticism from Zimbabweans who called the display tone-deaf and extravagant, especially given the country’s economic struggles.
Many users contrasted the video with the daily reality of ordinary children. “While others queue for food, some kids have private chefs,” one comment read. Others raised concerns about exposing children of politically connected figures to public scrutiny through status-driven content.
The clip has reignited debate about privilege, inequality, and the appropriateness of children parading luxury lifestyles on social media at such a young age.
