By A Correspondent – A group aligned to the ruling party has rejected media reports of a protest in Chinhoyi involving the burning of a CAB3 billboard, calling the story false and politically motivated.

In a press statement issued this week, Varakashi4ED Mashonaland West said the report was “information warfare” rather than journalism. The group accused the publication of attempting to create confusion and project a false image of instability in Zimbabwe.

“This is a deliberate attempt to incite confusion, manufacture unrest, and project a false image of instability in Zimbabwe,” the statement said. “Such narratives are the tools of those who seek to weaken national unity, erode public confidence, and reverse the gains of our independence through psychological manipulation.”

According to the group, no protest took place. Instead, they described the incident as an act of vandalism carried out at night by unknown individuals. “There was no protest. What occurred was an act of cowardly vandalism carried out under the cover of darkness by unknown elements. No faces. No crowd. No movement. No cause. Just criminality,” it read.

Varakashi4ED Mashonaland West challenged the media outlet to produce evidence supporting the claim of a protest. “Where are the protesters? Where is the mobilisation? Where is the proof? Zimbabweans will not be insulted with fiction masquerading as fact. If there is no evidence, then this so-called report collapses into the propaganda it clearly is,” the statement said.

The group said Mashonaland West remains a stronghold of support for national development under Vision 2030 and would not tolerate what it called manufactured dissent. “The people here are not puppets of foreign narratives or opposition fantasies—they are conscious defenders of Zimbabwe’s sovereignty,” it stated.

“We will not stand idle while rogue narratives attempt to infiltrate our communities and poison the national discourse. Those who seek to create the illusion of unrest will meet a wall of truth, unity, and resistance from the people,” the statement added.

“Zimbabwe’s path is not dictated by headlines or external agendas—it is driven by its people, its history, and its unbreakable will. We reject lies. We confront misinformation. We defend the nation,” it concluded.
