Tinotenda Hove- Police in Mashonaland West have launched an investigation following the disappearance of a three-month-old baby under suspicious circumstances in Banket.
According to reports, the infant went missing from a residence along Magamba Way on Sunday after the child’s mother was allegedly deceived by an unidentified woman.
The stranger reportedly informed the mother that her husband had been seen in the company of another woman, prompting her to leave home to verify the claim.
The mother is said to have left the baby and a three-year-old child at the house while she followed up on the information.
Upon her return, the three-month-old infant was nowhere to be found, sparking fears of an abduction.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that investigations are underway to establish exactly what happened and identify those responsible.
Authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward and report it to the nearest police station.
Police say all leads are being pursued as efforts continue to locate the missing child and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
