By A Correspondent | In a statement on Thursday, National Progressive Democrats national chairperson Tendai Kabasa called on Zimbabweans at home and in the diaspora to stand strong and support the party, saying the struggle for a better Zimbabwe must continue.
“Zimbabweans, let us stand strong! The time for change is now – support NPD!” said Kabasa.
“Fellow Zimbabweans, both at home and in the diaspora, the struggle for a better Zimbabwe must continue. We must never surrender our hopes, our voices or our determination to build a nation that works for everyone,” he said.
Kabasa said the National Progressive Democrats, under the leadership of President Togara Fambi, represents an alternative political vision built on democratic values, accountability, equality, national unity and respect for the rights of every citizen.
“We must remain strong, organised and committed to the cause. Let us spread the NPD message in our communities, workplaces, villages, towns and across our borders. Let every Zimbabwean understand that a better future requires active citizen participation and responsible leadership,” he said.
He said the party’s position must be clear and uncompromising.
“We must condemn corruption and demand accountability from everyone entrusted with public resources,” he said.
“We must reject looting and plundering of our national wealth,” he said.
“Say NO to tribalism, nepotism and discrimination. Zimbabwe belongs to all its citizens, regardless of tribe, region or political affiliation,” he said.
Kabasa said the party will defend democracy and the people’s constitutional right to freely choose their leaders without intimidation, threats or political violence.
“We must stand against CAAB3 and every attempt to undermine democratic choice and constitutional accountability,” he said.
He said mobilisation must begin at the grassroots and grow systematically.
“Our mobilisation must begin at the grassroots and grow systematically: Village, Ward, District, Province and National level. Every supporter has a role to play. Every voice matters. Every community deserves representation,” he said.
Kabasa reminded ZANU-PF, from President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Cabinet to every individual entrusted with public responsibility, that Zimbabwe is bigger than any political party, family, individual or ruling elite.
“Public office is a responsibility, not a licence to exploit national resources or place personal interests above the people’s welfare,” he said.
“We are not fighting fellow Zimbabweans. We are fighting corruption, injustice, poverty, mismanagement and the abuse of public office. Our struggle must remain peaceful, democratic and focused on restoring the dignity of our nation,” he said.
He urged Zimbabweans not to lose hope.
“To all Zimbabweans: Do not lose hope. Do not surrender your democratic rights. Do not remain silent when the future of your country is at stake,” he said.
“Let us unite, mobilise, organise and demand a better Zimbabwe,” he said.
“NPD – from the people, by the people, with the people!” he said.
“Under President Togara Fambi, let us build a democratic Zimbabwe founded on accountability, equal opportunities, justice and prosperity for all,” he said.
“The time for citizen-driven change is now!”
