Tinotenda Hove- Speaking at the burial of the late Masvingo City Council parking marshal Augustine Rashirai near Bondolfi Mission on Friday, Citizens leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa urged the nation to remain resilient in the face of hardship and political pressure.

Advocate Chamisa said Rashirai was a dedicated activist who embodied the spirit of the movement.
“Some may ask why I am here. This is because of Augustine who was a dedicated change champion,” Chamisa told mourners. “I know there are Zanu PF here, I am here to pay tribute to a committed change champion.”

He used the moment to send a direct message to the ruling party, saying attempts to frustrate the opposition would not succeed.
“Those who think they can stop the citizens struggle are lost. They deflate the tyres of your small vehicle, go and buy a haulage truck,” he said. “In other words change is unstoppable. We are not going back.”

Chamisa also acknowledged the economic difficulties Zimbabweans are facing, arguing that public frustration was growing and fueling demand for political change.
“We know people are saying a lot but it’s evident everyone wants change,” he said. “People are tired of promises. They want jobs, they want affordable food, they want their children in school. That is why the citizens struggle continues.”

He called on supporters to honor Rashirai’s memory by staying organized and peaceful.

“Augustine died serving the people. Let us serve the people with the same commitment. No amount of intimidation will stop this movement,” Chamisa added.
