Tinotenda Hove- The National Progressive Democrats (NPD) says Zimbabwe urgently needs a new political direction that puts citizens first.
In a statement released on Monday, NPD National Chairman Tendai Kabasa said the party offers an alternative for Zimbabweans yearning for accountable leadership.
“The National Progressive Democrats (NPD) is an opportunity to advance a Zimbabwe where democracy is respected, human rights are protected, corruption is confronted, and economic opportunities serve the people—not just the politically connected,” Kabasa said.
He said the country’s future must not be decided by a few elites while ordinary citizens suffer.
“Our country’s future must not be determined by political elites while ordinary citizens struggle with unemployment, poverty and the rising cost of living. Zimbabweans deserve accountable leadership, equal opportunities, justice and a government that answers to its people,” he said.
Kabasa said the NPD stands for more than just political change.
“NPD stand for more than political change—it champions a better way of governing. A Zimbabwe where every citizen’s voice matters, institutions serve the public, and leadership is earned through integrity, service and accountability,” he said.
He called on both local and international stakeholders to engage with the party’s vision.
“We invite Zimbabweans at home and abroad, African leaders, international democratic institutions, human-rights organisations and global media houses to engage with NPD, examine its vision and give Zimbabwe’s democratic future the attention it deserves,” Kabasa said.
“The future of Zimbabwe belongs to its people. Let us build a nation where democracy delivers, leadership serves, and hope becomes reality,” he added.
The statement concluded: “NPD: A VOICE FOR DEMOCRACY. A VISION FOR ZIMBABWE. A FUTURE FOR ALL. We are: From the people, By the people, With the people. N P D Wayaaa.”
