By A Correspondent | Zanu PF Chiredzi West Member of Parliament Darlington Chiwa has been remanded to 19 October 2026 as he faces allegations of abusing Constituency Development Fund (CDF) money.

Chiwa appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates Court on 14 September following delays in the commencement of proceedings in the case.

The court ordered the legislator to report to the authorities once every last Friday of the month as the matter continues.

His title deeds were also temporarily released after he requested them for purposes linked to the government’s ongoing digitalisation programme covering farms and residential properties.

The State, however, opposed the release of his passport, meaning Chiwa remains subject to restrictions as the case proceeds.

The latest developments come as authorities continue verifying documentation linked to the CDF cases involving legislators.

Sources indicated that the case involving Chiredzi South MP Joel Sithole is expected to proceed before Chiwa’s matter, with Sithole reportedly having acknowledged the allegations against him and returned the CDF money in question.

The CDF cases have placed renewed scrutiny on how public development funds allocated to constituencies are handled, with the allegations raising questions over accountability and the use of money intended for community projects.
