Tinotenda Hove- Rehabilitation works have commenced at Kambuzuma Community Hall in Ward 14, Harare Central Constituency, following appeals by residents who called for the restoration of the public facility to make it functional again.

The initiative follows concerns raised by community members over the deteriorating condition of the hall, which has traditionally served as an important gathering place for residents, community meetings and various social activities.

Harare Central Member of Parliament Hon. Lovemore Jimu has intervened to support the rehabilitation programme, responding to calls from residents who highlighted the importance of restoring the facility as a key public asset.

The commencement of the works marks progress towards addressing residents’ concerns and bringing back a facility that plays an important role in strengthening community engagement and promoting local development.

For many people in Kambuzuma, the community hall represents more than just a building. It provides a shared space where residents can meet, discuss neighbourhood challenges, engage local stakeholders and participate in initiatives aimed at improving their welfare.

Once rehabilitation is completed, the facility is expected to accommodate community meetings, educational programmes, youth development activities, women’s empowerment initiatives and public awareness campaigns.

The restored hall could also provide an important platform for discussions around issues affecting residents, including water supply, sanitation, road maintenance, public health and service delivery.

Hon. Jimu’s intervention highlights the importance of elected representatives responding to concerns raised by the communities they serve and facilitating initiatives that address local development priorities.

“A functional community hall brings people together, supports local development and builds a stronger Kambuzuma,” Jimu said.

However, the long-term success of the rehabilitation programme will depend on proper maintenance, responsible use of the facility and continued community participation in safeguarding the public asset.

“The ultimate measure of success will be a functional, well-maintained hall that residents can use confidently as a centre for dialogue, participation and community development,” Jimu said.

The rehabilitation of Kambuzuma Community Hall is an important step towards restoring a valuable community facility and strengthening residents’ participation in local development processes.
