Tinotenda Hove- The Ministry of Health and Child Care has confirmed the recall of two batches of Nifedipine 10mg tablets following quality control tests that showed the medicine no longer complied with the required standards.

The Ministry said the recall was initiated through the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ), the statutory regulator responsible for overseeing the safety, quality and efficacy of medicines available in the country.

In a statement dated 12 September 2026, the Ministry said the recall was part of the MCAZ’s routine monitoring of medicines already on the market.

“The Ministry further confirms that the MCAZ notice currently circulating concerning the recall of specific batches of Nifedipine 10mg tablets is genuine and forms part of the Authority’s routine regulatory and post-market surveillance activities,” the Ministry said.
Nifedipine is commonly prescribed to manage high blood pressure and other cardiovascular conditions.

The Ministry’s confirmation means patients, pharmacies and healthcare providers should take note of the affected batches and follow guidance issued by the MCAZ regarding the recalled products.
