- Trouble starting/stopping urination
- Weak or interrupted urine flow
- Frequent urination (esp. at night)
- Pain/burning with urination
- Blood in urine or semen
- Erectile issues
– Pain in hips, back, or pelvis (advanced cases)
Causes
Prostate cancer has several risk factors:
- Age (risk increases 50+)
- Family history
- Genetics (BRCA mutations)
- Ethnicity (more common in Black men)
- Diet (high-fat diets may increase risk) Prostate cancer treatment depends on stage, age, health :
- Active surveillance (monitoring)
- Surgery (prostatectomy)
- Radiation therapy
- Hormone therapy
- Chemotherapy Prevention strategies :
- Eat more fruits/veggies, less fat
- Maintain healthy weight
- Exercise regularly
- Consider screening (PSA tests) 50+ (or earlier with risk factors)
