Darwendale Horror: Mother And Two Children Murdered, Bodies Burnt In Hut

Tinotenda Hove- A 26-year-old woman and her two young children were brutally killed in a shocking incident at Shirleigh Farm in Darwendale, with police now searching for an unidentified suspect.

The victims, identified by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) as Abigail Mwale, 26, Johanne Maiswa, 5, and seven-month-old Jayden Mwale, were discovered dead on Sunday, 13 September 2026.

According to police, the circumstances surrounding the deaths point to a particularly disturbing attack. The suspect allegedly moved the bodies into a hut before securing the structure from the outside and setting it on fire.

“The ZRP is investigating a case of murder involving an unknown suspect who allegedly killed three people, a mother and her two children, at Shirleigh Farm, Darwendale, on 13 September 2026,” police said.
The victims were named as Mwale, Maiswa and infant Jayden.

Police said investigations at the scene led to the recovery of several items that could assist detectives in establishing what happened, including a blood-stained white piece of cloth, a white sack, an adze and a pair of socks.
The motive for the killings remains unknown, while the identity and whereabouts of the suspected perpetrator have not yet been established.

Investigations are continuing as police work to reconstruct the events leading to the deaths and identify those responsible for the gruesome attack.
