Tinotenda Hove – Controversial Zanu PF-linked businessman and tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo has once again made headlines after announcing a generous donation of a brand-new vehicle and US$50,000 to renowned street preacher Evangelist Trymore Muparinga.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Friday, Chivayo praised the humble evangelist, well-known for his impassioned sermons delivered on the streets of Harare, particularly at the bustling corner of First Street and Speke Avenue.

“There are voices that echo from pulpits and then there are voices that rise from the pavements,” Chivayo said. “For many years, at corner 1st Street and Speke Avenue, a certain evangelist became a spiritual compass for many, using no stage, no PA system, but just a humble preacher of the Word and a heart full of fire.”

Describing Muparinga’s preaching as powerful, humorous, and spiritually enriching, Chivayo commended him for maintaining humility and integrity despite the challenges and temptations that often come with public recognition and international travel.

“My favorite sermon by this unassuming man of God revolved around how Christians must work hard as much as they pray hard,” said Chivayo. “’Prayer haidzinge nhamo, inodzinga mweya wenhamo.’ Indeed, ‘we are not heavenly minded to be earthly useless!’ Ukashaya mari yekutenga chikafu unofira mu prayer,” he added, quoting the evangelist with laughter emojis.

Chivayo also highlighted Muparinga’s refusal to use his platform to attack others, a quality he said was rare and worthy of admiration. “Never have I heard you speak ill of another man of God. You do not use the pulpit to criticize, but to uplift and encourage people to follow a Christ-centred life.”

In recognition of his consistency, humility, and impact, Chivayo made a stunning gesture: “Please go and see Victor at Exquisite Motors on Monday and collect your brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD6 that is fully paid for and ready for collection,” he announced. “In addition, you will receive USD50,000 in cash to support your growing ministry, whether to purchase instruments, set up equipment, or take the gospel to even greater heights.”

Chivayo closed his tribute with blessings: “May God continue blessing you abundantly.”

The donation has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some praising the gesture as a worthy investment in ministry, while others questioned Chivayo’s motivations and sources of wealth. Nonetheless, Evangelist Trymore Muparinga’s work on the streets continues to inspire many, and this recognition marks a significant moment in his spiritual journey.
