Tinotenda Hove – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday addressed the 398th Ordinary Session of the Politburo, marking the beginning of preparations for the 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference opening Friday, 16 October in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West.
Mnangagwa said the session would make a final review of conference hosting preparations and content.
He urged Politburo members chairing various conference committees to be guided by the collective wisdom of delegates who represent the generality of the membership.
He said deliberations must enhance intra-party democracy while ensuring decisions positively impact the economy and quality of life.
The President said the Central Committee Report will be tabled before the conference as required by the Constitution, and commended the Politburo and Heads of Departments for detailed submissions.
He urged members to acquaint themselves with departmental activities, perspectives and challenges for greater collaboration, synergies and joint programming.
Mnangagwa applauded departments for what he described as great strides, saying Work Plans and Policy Management meetings had ensured judicious planning, monitoring and real-time gap closing.
He praised the party’s 2025/2026 administrative performance and successful adoption of reforms through oversight and engagement with Government and stakeholders.
The President thanked the Conference Organising Committee and Resource Mobilisation Sub-Committee for what he called a hugely successful Presidential Fundraising Dinner Ball in Harare, plus all well-wishers and donors.
“Success is DNA of ZANU PF,” Mnangagwa said, adding that the 23rd Conference must be executed to guarantee defining results and that departments must work diligently with unity of purpose.
He reminded the Politburo that responsibility does not end with the adoption of resolutions, saying members must provide bold oversight to ensure implementation for impactful results guided by party and national interests.
