Tinotenda Hove – Veteran musician Jeys Marabini has released a brand-new album titled Umjolo, sparking excitement among fans and music lovers alike. Known for his rich voice and timeless sound, Marabini brings a fresh perspective in his 10th studio project, which explores love, loyalty, and life lessons through a blend of contemporary and traditional rhythms.

Speaking on the album, Marabini described it as both a personal milestone and a bridge between generations. “This is not just music, it’s a message,” he said. “I worked with young creatives who suggested the title ‘Umjolo’—it’s a hot topic these days, and it grabs attention. It’s not just a name; it’s meant to spark curiosity and start conversations.”

The album, which features ten tracks, delves into matters of the heart and offers practical advice about relationships and harmony, with Marabini insisting the content is as educational as it is entertaining.

“There’s so much more to this project than people might expect. Tracks like ‘Noma Kanjani’ really speak to perseverance in love, while my collaboration with Mzoe 7 on ‘Thula Ulalele Nansi Ingoma’ adds a youthful edge to the sound,” he explained. “It’s an album for everyone—young and old—and I think it speaks directly to the soul of the Zimbabwean listener.”

Umjolo is now streaming across major digital platforms, with music videos currently in production to bring the visuals behind the lyrics to life. Marabini says this move is part of an effort to maintain relevance in a digital-first music landscape and to reach wider audiences.

Born Majahawonke Ndlovu, Marabini’s career began in 2002 and has spanned over two decades. His enduring legacy in Zimbabwean music continues to grow, with each release reaffirming his place among the nation’s musical greats.
