Tinotenda Hove -The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare Central Province, under the leadership of Officer Commanding Police Commissioner Chikunguru, rolled out a road safety awareness campaign along Seke Road in Chitungwiza on 31 July 2025.
The campaign brought together key stakeholders including public transport operators, the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, and representatives from various government departments. The joint initiative aimed to raise public awareness about responsible road use and reduce the alarming rate of traffic accidents in the area.
“We are calling on all motorists and road users to be responsible and safety conscious,” Commissioner Chikunguru said during the campaign. “Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we must all work together to prevent unnecessary loss of life.”
Participants handed out flyers, engaged with drivers and passengers, and emphasised the importance of obeying traffic laws, wearing seatbelts, and avoiding reckless driving.
The campaign is part of a broader strategy by ZRP to promote safer roads across the country, especially ahead of peak travel periods.
