Tinotenda Hove- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched investigations following the tragic death of three infants who were discovered in the boot of a car in Kuwadzana Extension, Harare.
Police confirmed that the victims — Anopaishe Muzanago (3), Anenyasha Muzanago (1 year 3 months), and Raymond Matsiwe (4) — were found dead on October 3, 2025, inside a Mercedes Benz vehicle parked in the suburb.
According to a police statement released Friday, the children had been reported missing two days earlier. “The victims had gone missing on 01st October 2025 at around 1000 hours and were last seen playing outside the yard while their mothers were doing chores inside the house,” the ZRP said.
The case sparked outrage on social media, with claims that police allegedly failed to act promptly after the disappearance was reported. However, the police have dismissed those allegations. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police dispels social media claims suggesting that no action was taken by the Police after a missing person report was filed at the Police General Headquarters on the day the infants went missing,” the statement read.
Authorities also clarified the timeline of their involvement in the case. “We clarify that the office of the Commissioner-General of Police and other senior officers became aware of the incident on 02nd October 2025 during the night after a freelance journalist complained that the local police had been informed on 1st October 2025,” the ZRP said.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths, while the incident has left residents of Kuwadzana in shock and mourning.
