Tinotenda Hove – Zanu PF has intensified its campaign in Ward 6, Epworth North Constituency, with a vibrant roadshow rally launched yesterday as part of its efforts to win the upcoming by-elections scheduled for August 2. The party has so far registered 5,890 voters, who are expected to cast their ballots in support of its candidate, Civilised Bushe.

Bushe will face Alice Nyahunzvi of the MDC-T and independent candidate Peter Nyapetwa in what is expected to be a closely watched contest. The seat has been under opposition control since 2000, and Zanu PF is determined to reclaim it.

Addressing party supporters at Kubatana Primary School grounds, Zanu PF Harare Provincial Chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa said the campaign machinery had been fully activated.

“We have deployed our campaign teams in the ward. Our aim is to encourage all registered voters to support Zanu PF. So far, our campaign teams have registered 5,890 voters,” he said.

Masimirembwa stressed the importance of the by-election, saying it was part of the broader strategy to implement people-centred development initiatives.

“What we are witnessing here is that services are being delivered to the people — boreholes are being drilled, roads are under construction, and scholarships are being awarded. All systems are in place to ensure development reaches the community,” he said.

He accused the opposition of failing the people of Epworth, saying, “The opposition has caused untold suffering to the electorate. We have stepped in with meaningful development. Significant resources have been invested in road rehabilitation and borehole drilling to improve access to clean water.”

Masimirembwa also highlighted the ongoing free medical outreach under the Nurse Aid for Economic Development programme, describing it as a direct benefit to the community.

He went on to commend President Mnangagwa’s leadership and vision for 2030.

“President Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind is being fulfilled right here in Epworth. These by-elections are just a formality. We are focused on securing a big win to show that Harare Province will never be the same again.”
