Tinotenda Hove – KADOMA – In a deeply disturbing case that has shocked the Kadoma community, police have arrested a 33-year-old woman for allegedly killing her newborn baby and disposing of the body in a blair toilet.

Brenda Musindo was taken into custody on July 7, 2025, by police in Turff, in connection with the suspected infanticide that occurred on June 14, 2025, at a house in the New Stands area of Kadoma.

According to a statement released by police, Musindo allegedly gave birth to a baby boy, then immediately wrapped the infant in a skin-tight cloth, placed him inside a plastic bag, and dumped the baby into a blair toilet located at the property.

The gruesome discovery was made following a tip-off, leading authorities to the scene. The police have since recovered the remains of the child from the toilet pit.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the baby was alive at the time he was discarded. Post-mortem results are expected to shed more light on the cause of death.

Infanticide remains a deeply troubling issue in Zimbabwe, often linked to poverty, lack of support for single mothers, mental health issues, or societal stigma around unplanned pregnancies. In similar past cases, young women have cited fear of rejection, shame, and desperation as reasons behind such tragic actions.

Police have urged members of the public facing crisis pregnancies to seek help through official channels or social support systems rather than resorting to harmful and irreversible decisions.

Brenda Musindo is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.

Authorities have appealed to anyone with further information related to the case to come forward.
