A 32-year-old woman, Melody Mandega, has been arraigned by the Gweru Magistrates’ Court for attacking Josiah Chigumba, 53, at Diamond Plate Nightclub in Gweru. The incident occurred on February 5, 2025, around 0100 hours, after Mandega allegedly snatched Chigumba’s beer and struck him on the head with a beer bottle.

The assault was reportedly sparked by an argument over Mandega’s insistence on buying beer after the club had closed. Mandega, who is unemployed and of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody until March 6, 2025.
