Tinotenda Hove – On Monday, the Portfolio Committee on Defence, Home Affairs, Security Services, and War Veterans Affairs convened to hear detailed testimonies from the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs and Detachment Commanders.
The meeting focused on a significant petition submitted by the Zimbabwe National Association of Liberation War Cadres, urging an amendment to the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Act.
During the session, witnesses provided firsthand accounts highlighting the rigorous training, sacrifices, and dedication of those involved in the liberation struggle. Special attention was given to the vital role played by individuals who cared for the wounded and sick during the conflict.
The insights gathered will contribute to a comprehensive report for Parliament, which is expected to include recommendations aimed at enhancing recognition and support for war veterans.
